Grants Dashboard
An analytical view of federal and state government grants with a focus on selection method and political context.
What it shows
- Total grant dollars awarded, by program.
- Breakdown by selection method (competitive, discretionary, formula).
- Top recipient organisations.
- Geographic distribution (where disclosed).
- Cross-references to donations and contractor relationships.
How to read it
Discretionary grants are not illegitimate — sometimes they are the right tool. But they carry higher political risk and warrant closer scrutiny, especially near election cycles.
Cross-referencing grants with donation data often surfaces clusters worth examining.
Data sources
- GrantConnect (federal)
- State grants registers
- Program-level publications
Caveats
- Grant data quality varies by program. Some programs disclose only winners; others also disclose applicants, amounts, and evaluation scores.
- Recipient name normalisation is approximate.
- We do not judge grant outcomes — just surface the structure of how money was distributed.
