Main Dashboard

The one-screen answer to "how are Victoria's major infrastructure projects tracking?"

What it shows

  • Headline stats (6 cards): total projects tracked, original committed spend, current estimated spend, total overrun, count over budget, count running late.
  • Sector breakdown: original vs current TEI split across transport, health, education, justice, water, etc.
  • Wall of Shame: top 10 projects by absolute dollar increase.
  • Wall of Fame: top 10 projects performing best against original commitments.
  • RAG distribution: how many projects are Green, Amber, Red based on the government's own status reporting.

How to read it

The headline stats are the big picture. Everything else is a drill-down. Clicking any project name takes you to the Project Detail page with full history.

The "original" vs "current" gap is the most important number on this site. That gap is the drift between what the government committed to and what it is now estimating.

Data sources

  • Budget Paper 4 (annual) — TEI and completion dates.
  • VAGO Major Projects Performance Report — RAG ratings and independent audit findings.
  • DTF Capital Investment Dashboard — mid-year updates.

Every project links to its source record in the database.

Caveats

  • Projects can be added to or removed from BP4 between years; our dataset only includes projects that appear across at least two consecutive reporting periods (to allow drift comparison).
  • Sector categorisation comes from BP4 and is not always consistent year-to-year.
  • RAG ratings are self-reported by delivery entities.
